Common questions
Do I really need to log in? +
Yes. Instagram's followers/following endpoints return 401 require_login on the exact same unauthenticated request that returns full profile data elsewhere. That is Instagram's own application-level login gate, not an IP block.
Is it safe to use my main account's session? +
It carries real risk — a rate limit, security checkpoint, or temporary block are all things Instagram can do to an account pulling large lists quickly. We recommend a secondary account and a conservative maxPerUsername on your first run.
Do you store or see my sessionid? +
No. It is passed straight through to Instagram's own API for the calls this run makes and is never logged, persisted, or reused for another run or customer.
Is there a cap on rows or usernames per run? +
Yes, on purpose: maxPerUsername caps at 5,000, 25 target usernames per run, and 20,000 total delivered rows regardless of what the input requests.
How am I charged? +
Pay per row. You're billed only for followers/following rows actually written to the dataset. A missing session, not-found username, or network failure is never charged.
